Kishore Joseph was born in Kolar Gold Fields, in a family of musicians. He finished his school education at St. Mary’s Boy’s High school in KGF and completed his Bachelor of Arts at First Grade Government College in KGF. He started his career at an advertising agency where he was involved in space selling. During his career at the agency, Kishore discovered himself as a journalist and desired to start a news publication.Kishore collaborated with his good friends who shared the same passion for journalism and started a neighborhood news weekly newspaper called ‘Indiranagar Times’, in 1994, while he worked in the advertisement agency simultaneously. He is credited with having pioneered the concept of neighborhood news covering the activities and events happening in the locality, for the first time in Bengaluru. The weekly newspaper was circulated free of cost and the advertisements in it were the source of income for the publication.

Kishore’s newspaper covered a broad spectrum of news such as social activities, issues, and developments in the neighborhood while also highlighting the importance of grievances and showcasing local talents. The publication later expanded to other neighborhoods such as 'This Week Jayanagar,’‘This Week Malleshwaram,’ ‘This Week Rajajinagar’, ‘This Week Koramangla,’ and 'This week Marathahalli,' summing to more than 7 neighborhoods in Bangalore. For each neighborhood,  10,000 newspapers were distributed every week and the local people liked the content and were very much keen on reading the next paper.

In the year 2000, Kishore merged all the editions into one single edition called ‘This Week Bangalore,’ as a tabloid while also establishing the digital edition online on ‘Thisweekbangalore.com’. It was distributed for free and relied on advertisements for income like before. The publication soon expanded its footprint inDelhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, Guwahati, Pune, and Mumbai.
