Live to learn and you will really learn to live”.Unacademy is India’s largest e-learning platform emphasis on providing strong knowledge to young minds and Professionals. The company has its headquarters in Bangalore. The journey actually started from a Youtube channel by Gourav Munjal in 2010. Later in 2015, Gourav Munjal with Hemesh Singh and Roman Saini joined to make it India’s leading e-learning company.

The Youtube channel started by Gourav Munjal, who uploaded a Computer graphics tutorial attained a positive response. Then he started uploading more videos on Computer programming added more subscribers to the channel. Later Gaurav appealed to his friend Saini to upload a video tutorial on “how to crack civil services exam”, who cracked the IAS Exam in 2013. Later in 2015 Saini quit his job to join Sorting Hat Technologies, a company formed by Gourav and Hemesh.

Sorting Hat Technologies was operating Unacademy through a mobile app and YouTube channel. In 2017 it became the largest learning platform with 1million learners, 40k live classes, and 20millon views.

2018- More than 200k users who are learning with the live videos. Unacademy acquired Wifistudy for $10million, which is a Jaipur-based Youtube channel that prepares students for competitive exams such as SSC, banking, railway, etc.2020 -Unacademy acquired Kreatryx, which trains students for Gate and ESE Exams. Since then Kreatryx works under the Unacademy under its own brand.  Kreatryx has more than 50k subscribers, 100k video classes, at the time of acquisition, Codechef came under the control of Unacademy, Prep ladder and trains students for NEET PG and FMGE and which was acquired by Unacademy for $50million with the aim to strengthen its scope in medical exam preparations, Counsavy was acquired by unacademy to get strong in the Union Public Service Exam Category, NeoStencil was acquired to strengthen its test preparation for government Exams.

2021- Unacademy acquired Tap chief, which is an online platform used by professionals to earn extra income. Tap chief joined Unacademy with a valuation of Rs.100crores. This will help Tap chief to learn courses from Unacademy and get a job. Handa ka Funda was acquired to strengthen its scope in CAT and MBA Entrance Examinations.

All the acquired comes under the Unacademy and working on its own brand to build the scope of the competitive exams under one roof.Unacademy has raised $17.6 million from investors all over the world and they are Sequoia Capital India, Nexus Ventures Partners, SAIF Partners and Blume Ventures.

Unacademy net worth is $2Billion and in Indian Rupees it's Rs.14, 831 crores in 2021 with having 18,000 educators and millions of active learners. Most of the sessions are live and mock tests, recorded sessions are also available as YouTube videos. To get prepared for the competitive Exams students pay less money when compared to the offline classes.
