Beauty pageants are a platform for showcasing women's empowerment, diversity, intelligence, and leadership. Women who take part in pageants have utilised the platform, and their own platforms, to empower other women, others have also used pageants as a way to advance their careers.

Pageants for married women in India provide strong platform to married women and give them an identity, women feel confident to showcase their personality and potential. A beauty pageant is a celebration of beauty. Beauty pageants give women an opportunity to showcase their personalities not only on a domestic platform, but also globally. It is a very unique concept where women from all walks of life come together to participate and create their own identity.

Mrs. Karnataka contest (Organized by Sunrise Events), is an impeccable platform for multi-talented women who have taken care of their home and outbound responsibilities and who are constantly exploring the best version of their own. It is beauty contest to honor women in India whether it is a mother or a wife, a housewife or a working woman who wants to set examples of society and of the world at large.

Mrs. Karnataka 2021 Anitha Hemamalini made the entire state proud by winning the beauty pageant. Anitha is definitely an epitome of beauty. She is an inspiration for every modern woman who is in her shell but aspiring for much more and does not want to settle for less. Anitha has also set a new standard and parameters in the pageant industry, and that is that the winner of a pageant need not be a tall, fair skinned, towering woman, but an amalgamation of wit, beauty, and brains. With the novel idea that every woman who desired to become a beauty queen could pursue it even post marriage. A married woman should have an equal chance at showcasing her talent and proving her wit and intellect on a global platform.

When asked what inspired her to take part in the contest, she says” The tiara has always fascinated me since childhood. I was always interested in fashion but could not do much as soon after college I had to join work and then marriage and motherhood happened. Due to these responsibilities, I could not pursue my dreams. But in 2021, one of my friend forced me to participate Mrs. Karnataka Contest. Initially I was reluctant to participate due to various reasons but I decided to participate mainly due to two reasons: firstly because I wanted to prove that brown skin is also equally beautiful and beauty is not just related to fair skin. Secondly I wanted to pursue my all time dream and show that age is not a criteria to if you have determination to achieve your goal.

Mrs. Anitha was working at a software MNC during the time and was mother to a 16 years old son. She participated in the Mrs. Karnataka Contest and won the Mrs. Karnataka 2021, fashion icon award. There after she participated in the Mrs.India Elegant International 2021 contest and won the Mrs.India Classic 2021 Title. Since then Anita is a regular contestant in many beauty pageants and an active member of various programs. Recently she was a guest at a Dance Festival organized by Smruthi Sadana. Her latest feather in the cap is the Award she received by KS Kalasan at Kannada Rajyothsava.

Mrs. Anitha Hemamalini continues to motivate many women and hope that women think high of themselves and take self care at every stage of their lives. Her message to all women would be “you are all beautiful in your own unique way, start believing in yourself and if you want to pursue your dreams, age is not a limit. You should believe in yourself and have determination to achieve your dreams”.

She hopes her story inspires married woman and they start to achieve their dreams, no matter what!
