Facebook , WhatsApp and Instagram outage caused twitter to lag

Yesterday, 3rd Oct 2021 will go down histroy as on of worst app outages of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, Experts believe that this ouitage was caused because of the issues with internet infrastructure, specifically with it’s DNS or Domain Name System. This outage happened a day after Fraces Hugen, ex facebook employee, the whistleblower who provided documents underpinning a recent Wall Street Journal investigation. Haugen anonymously filed complaints with the US federal law enforcement alleging Facebook and how it magnifies hate and false information that increases polariztion.

                                 

This outage caused inconvenience and a considerable loss to millions of small business owners who completely depend on social media to reach out to their clients. Regular users of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp switched to other apps in order to stay connected. This overwhelming jump of users caused even the infamous Twitter to lag, Twitter always said it was well equipped but  looks like even some plans and people of Twitter were caught off guard.

Twitter’s press release post the Twitter outage which lasted for a couple of hours.

 

Facebook on twitter acknowledged the outage and reassured it’s users that it’s working to get the issue fixed

 

 


Facebook has since issued a very public apology to it’s users on platforms of social media.

 

The repercussions of this outage however didn’t come cheap to Mark Zuckerberg, this personally cost him $6 billion and Facebook approximately lost $164,000 a minute in revenue, while the stocks declined and wiped away more than $40 billion in market cap, at the moment, it’s valuation stands at $919.79 billion.

 

Even though Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are back online, The vacuum created by the outage has left a lot of internet people thinking what would the world be without social media. The 6 hour long server issue caused a much anticipated panic which was observed worldwide, users have made an observation on how powerful the apps have become and it is evident that Facebook is soon going to become a Monopoly.
