Jagdeep Singh, an Indian-origin entrepreneur and founder of QuantumScape, has set a new benchmark in executive compensation with an annual package of ₹17,500 crore (approximately $2.06 billion), averaging ₹48 crore per day. Singh’s journey began with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Maryland, followed by a master’s from Stanford University and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. He gained experience at companies like HP and Sun Microsystems before founding multiple startups, including AirSoft in 1992. In 2010, Singh established QuantumScape, focusing on solid-state battery technology for electric vehicles.

Under his leadership, the company developed batteries known for faster charging, enhanced safety, and longer lifespans, positioning it as a leader in the EV sector. In February 2024, Singh stepped down as CEO of QuantumScape, passing the leadership to Siva Sivaram, but he continues to serve on the company’s board. His compensation package, including stock options valued at approximately $2.3 billion, surpasses the annual revenue of many large corporations, highlighting the significant value attributed to his leadership and innovation in the tech industry.
