Suzlon Energy's success story is remarkable. Founded in 1995 by Tulsi Tanti, a mechanical engineer and visionary entrepreneur, the company has grown to become a leading player in the global wind energy market 

Early Days

Tanti's journey began when he was running his family's textile business in Surat, Gujarat. Faced with high operating costs due to expensive electricity and frequent power outages, he explored alternative energy sources. In 1994, he purchased two wind turbines and successfully generated his own electricity. This experiment sparked the idea of starting Suzlon Energy.

Rapid Growth

Suzlon's growth was rapid, with the company establishing a technical collaboration with German wind energy leader Südwind Energy GmbH. This partnership helped Suzlon develop its expertise in designing Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs). By 2000, Suzlon had installed over 100 MW of wind energy capacity in India 

Global Expansion

Suzlon expanded its operations globally, establishing subsidiaries in the USA, Germany, Australia, and Denmark. The company also set up manufacturing units in India and abroad. Today, Suzlon has a presence in 17 countries and has installed over 13,060 wind turbines across six continents ¹

. Innovation and Awards

Suzlon has been at the forefront of innovation in wind energy technology. The company has developed several cutting-edge products, including the S97 120M Hybrid Tower Wind Turbine, which won the Golden Peacock Eco-Innovation Award. Suzlon has also received recognition for its manufacturing excellence, including the National Award for Manufacturing Competitiveness ¹.
