Neelima Saxena, the founder of Pizza Cucina. Pizza Cucina is a newly opened Pizza Restaurant in Whitefield, Bangalore serving handmade, healthy, and tasty pizzas.

Neelima has led an adventurous life as a global citizen, residing in various countries such as Argentina, Japan, and the USA for over 18 years. They lived in Chicago, then Tokyo, and eventually settled in Portland.

While Neelima had a background in physics with an MSc degree, her passion for cooking and the culinary arts prevailed. With her husband's support, Neelima had the opportunity to attend the renowned Le Cordon Bleu for Culinary Arts. Later, Neelima worked in the Corporate Kitchen at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, under the guidance of Chef Andrew.

Neelima loved cooking and found joy in preparing meals that garnered appreciation from others. Cooking became an outlet for her creativity, and the positive feedback she received further fueled her enthusiasm. Her skills were widely appreciated during social gatherings in the US, where potluck-style events encouraged her to showcase her culinary prowess.

However, in 2012, family circumstances led Neelima and her family to return to India. Initially, Neelima dedicated her time to raising their three young children.

During this time, Neelima immersed herself in cooking, experimenting with various recipes and learning from videos and shows. She found solace and enjoyment in the process, constantly seeking to expand her culinary knowledge.

In 2015, Neelima and her family settled in Bangalore. The COVID-19 pandemic led Neelima to delve deeper into her passion for cooking.

With limited options for dining out, she started making homemade pizzas to make her kids happy. She noticed that many pizza places relied heavily on frozen ingredients and pre-made bases, compromising the quality and taste of the pizzas. This sparked her determination to create handmade pizzas using fresh and natural ingredients.

The positive response from her family and friends and the fact that homemade pizzas were healthier and tastier inspired her to start Pizza Cucina. The name "Cucina" was derived from the Italian word for cuisine.

With the unwavering support of her husband, Neelima officially opened the doors to Pizza Cucina on February 2023. Within three months, the business has garnered positive feedback and appreciation from customers who value the restaurant's commitment to natural, fresh ingredients and homemade sauces.

Neelima's emphasis on creating a healthier version of pizza has resonated with customers seeking a wholesome dining experience. Her passion for cooking and the desire to provide a healthier pizza option for her children became the driving force behind Pizza Cucina.

Pizza Cucina operates with a team of two skilled cooks meticulously trained by Neelima to follow her recipes and maintain the high standards she has set. Additionally, there is a dedicated cleaner for the dining area to ensure a clean and pleasant environment for customers. Neelima is actively involved in the day-to-day operations, often being present at the restaurant to cater to customers' needs.

Neelima remains determined and hopeful for the future of Pizza Cucina. She dreams to expand Pizza Cucina to more locations and bring her unique pizza offerings to more people. She knows the challenges inherent in the competitive food industry but continues to work hard to achieve her goals.

Pizza Cucina offers a diverse menu. The restaurant features a variety of pizzas, including vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and even fruit-based pizzas, offering a unique twist to traditional flavours. Neelima and her team serve a range of starters, such as garlic bread, pinwheels, Italian Katori, and more.

Pasta lovers can indulge in Mac & Cheese, red pasta, white pasta, and more at Pizza Cucina. Pizza Cucina specializes in sizzling brownies served with ice cream. Neelima plans to expand the dessert menu based on customer demand to ensure it remains financially viable.

Pizza Cucina has partnered with food delivery platforms such as Zomato and Swiggy. They are exploring the possibility of establishing their own delivery service. But currently, they rely on Zomato, Swiggy, and services like Dunzo to handle deliveries efficiently.

Pizza Cucina has shown steady progress over the three months since its inception. Each week brings in more customers, and weekends especially have been good for customer turnout. Neelima acknowledges that being situated in a new complex makes it challenging for people to discover the restaurant. External factors such as weather conditions also influence foot traffic.

Neelima expresses her gratitude for the immense support she receives from her husband, who encourages her to pursue her dreams. They believe in the potential of Pizza Cucina and are confident that Neelima's passion and hard work will lead to success.
