Andre-Gustave Citroen was a French industrialist and the founder of French automaker Citroen. He is remembered chiefly for the maker of car named after him, but also for his application of double helical gears.

In 1934, the firm established its reputation for innovative technology with the Traction Avant. This was the world's first car to be mass-produced with front-wheel drive, four-wheel independent suspension, as well as unibody construction, omitting a separate chassis, and instead using the body of the car itself as its main load-bearing structure.

In 1954, they produced the world's first hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension system then, in 1955, the revolutionary DS, the first mass-produced car with modern disc brakes and, in 1967, they introduced in several of their models swiveling headlights that allowed for greater visibility on winding roads; these cars have received various national and international awards, including three European Car of the Year.

At Citroen, they have dedicated to making your ownership journey easy and comfortable. There innovative and comprehensive financing solutions are aimed at addressing the mobility needs of every Citroen buyer, from salaried and self-employed individuals to small and large companies.

Brand Citroen owes its remarkable success to an audacious, maverick Frenchman. André Citroen. Driven by a dream to make cars more accessible to everyone, he founded Citroen in 1919. With his groundbreaking vision, the company would go on to revolutionize car manufacturing in Europe and become a pioneer in automotive innovation. Andre Citroen developed double helical gears with V-shaped teeth, years before he founded the company he named after himself. The gears proved to be a game-changer, bringing him immense success. Little wonder, then, that the gears held great significance for him – so much so that he based the design of Citroën’s logo on the very same gears.

Besides his entrepreneurial gifts, he was renowned for his advertising acumen, dazzling audiences with bold and never-seen-before campaigns. André Citroen’s spirit has endured at Citroen for over a century, inspiring the company’s designers and engineers to be as audacious as he was. And to push the boundaries of what is possible.
