People opted to wear comfy clothes at home when the COVID-19 epidemic struck since they had nowhere to go during the lockdown. This is supported by the quick expansion of India's innerwear brands during the lockdown, which grew at a pace of 18-20 per cent every year. However, as Indians' disposable income has increased, the athleisure clothing market has grown year on year. According to Statista, the men's innerwear market in India will be worth Rs 165 billion in 2020, up from Rs 85 billion in 2015. Recognizing the trend, Surat-based entrepreneur Yogesh Kabra established XYXX apparel in 2017. Every month, the business sells three lakh units of its product.

Yogesh got a good job in the US after finishing his MBA at Hult International Business School. However, while working in Boston, he realized that he had always wanted to establish his own business. However, he needed to make sure he wasn't carrying too many financial commitments. So, in 2015, he returned to his birthplace of Surat and began working at his father's textile business. Yogesh realized after a few months that, while he wanted to continue working in the textile sector, he also wanted to develop something on his own.Despite looking through a few stores in Surat for men's undergarments, Yogesh couldn't locate many new companies with high-quality items.

He only found two brands that had the same stitching, cloth, and feel; the only difference was the brand name. It made him wonder, 'Why don't we have another brand in this space? Yogesh invested Rs 50 lakh and launched XYXX Apparels in 2017 after spending around six months researching the business and preparing. Men's underwear, boxers, briefs, trunks, and knitted pajamas are available from the startup. The brand, which caters to the premium category, has established a price range of Rs 199 to Rs 399. Currently, their items start at Rs 215 and the most expensive product sells for Rs 350.Presently, the brand sells three lakh units every month, largely underwear. Yogesh anticipates selling between 6 lakh and 7 lakh units per month by the end of FY22. The brand reached three lakh clients in 2019.

In their innerwear, XYXX Apparel claims to employ micro modal fabric. "The cloth is extracted from pulp beechwood trees in Austria; it is naturally anti-microbial and hence the greatest natural fabric for the hot and humid Indian conditions," Yogesh previously told YourStory. He adds that because of this fabric, their product is exceptionally soft and comfortable to use in the Indian environment.
