Mensa Brands, a D2C (direct-to-consumer) house of brands firm, has raised $135 million in Series B funding, valuing the company at over $1 billion. Mensa is now one of Asia's fastest unicorns, having achieved the title in just six months. Mensa has received about $300 million in debt and equity funding to date. All current investors Accel Partners, Norwest Venture Partners, and Tiger Global Management participated in the investment round, which was led by Alpha Wave Ventures - Falcon Edge Capital. Mensa was also backed by Proses Ventures (Naspers) in this latest round of finance. This would also be Prosus' first venture into space. The company claims to be profitable and plans to use the resources to keep working with founder teams of customer-favorite businesses to help them grow into household names. It will also continue to expand out its IT platform and other growth capabilities, as well as engage in recruiting throughout functions.

They are looking to develop a global tech house of brands. They're attempting to honestly see whether they can create a new age brand house. They have already worked with 12 brands, which has been a great start for us. Our portfolio's 12 brands are all increasing at a 100 percent year-over-year rate. Due to their significant interest in technology and eCommerce in all elements of the business, the team has been able to achieve this. They're looking forward to assisting Mensa Brands on their quest to create digital-first global brands from India. To help fledgling companies scale digitally, their team provides outstanding execution focus and technology capabilities. This is an exciting time for made-in-India companies, and they look forward to contributing to their continued development. Mensa was founded in May 2021 to partner with and invest in digital-first firms in fashion and apparel, lawn and garden, beauty care, and food, and exponentially scaling it.

Using a combination of activities spanning product, price, marketing, distribution, and branding strategies with a technological platform at the center, the new unicorn works very closely with founding teams to drive development on marketplaces, through the brand's sites, and on worldwide platforms. From start to finish, the process of partnering with Mensa usually takes four to eight weeks. They are pleased to continue financing Ananth Narayanan as he executes a best-in-class playbook of brand aggregation and acceleration centered on Indian and global e-commerce companies. Mensa achieves a measurable increase by combining product and pricing optimization, innovation improvement process, marketing and distribution reinforcement, and distribution network fine-tuning.

Mensa Brands is the third unicorn in the D2C industry, following the Good Glamm Group and Licious, and the 37th this year. Mensa, on the other hand, is Asia's quickest unicorn.

By December 2022, Mensa hopes to have acquired over 40 brands. Ananth has built a world-class team and partnered with more than 12 firms to go on a path to create a tech-first global house of brands from India, thanks to his former leadership experience in two big enterprises. The speed and quality of execution have been amazing, and we are excited to continue to support Mensa as it strives to become Asia's quickest unicorn.
