The company has come a long way since its small beginnings in 1942. It was set up as a partnership firm by four friends who were willing to take on the World's biggest, most famous paint companies operating in India at that time. Over the course of 25 years, Asian Paints became a corporate force and India's leading paints company. Driven by its strong consumer-focus and innovative spirit, the company has been the market leader in paints since 1967. Today, it is double the size of any other paint company in India. Asian Paints manufactures a wide range of paints for decorative and industrial use and also offers Wall Coverings, adhesives and services under its portfolio.

The company is also present in the Home Improvement and Decor segment and offers bath and kitchen products. The company also introduced lightings, furnishings and furniture in its portfolio. In the Health and Hygiene segment, Asian Paints offers range of Sanitizers and Surface Disinfectants.

Recently the company entered into a definite agreement with Weatherseal Fenestration for acquiring 51% stake. Weatherseal incorporated in March 2022 would be engaged in the business of interior decoration/furnishing, including manufacturing UPVC windows and door systems. Asian Paints also entered into a definite agreement for acquiring 49% stake in Obgenix Software, commonly known as White Teak. White Teak is engaged in the business of decorative lighting products and fans.

Asian Paints is India's leading paint company with a group turnover of Rs 289 billion. The group has an enviable reputation in the corporate world for professionalism, fast track growth, and building shareholder equity. Asian Paints operates in 15 countries and has 26 paint manufacturing facilities in the world servicing consumers in over 60 countries. Besides Asian Paints, the group operates around the world through its subsidiaries - Asian Paints Berger, Apco Coatings, SCIB Paints, Taubmans, Asian Paints Causeway and Kadisco Asian Paints.

In Decorative paints, Asian Paints is present in all the four segments Interior Wall Finishes, Exterior Wall Finishes, Enamels and Wood Finishes. It also offers Water proofing, wall coverings and adhesives in its product portfolio.

In the Industrial coatings space, Asian Paints operates through two 50:50 joint ventures with PPG Inc, USA, one of the largest automotive coatings manufacturer in the world. The first Joint Venture 'PPG Asian Paints Pvt Ltd' services the increasing requirements of the Indian automotive coatings market. The second JV 'Asian Paints PPG Pvt Ltd' services the protective, industrial powder, industrial containers and light industrial coatings markets in India.

Asian Paints has also recently launched range of Furniture, Furnishings and Lighting Products under three brands - Nilaya, Royale and Ador, thus offering wide spectrum of offerings in the 'Home Décor' category.

It has also launched 'Beautiful Homes Service' - an exclusive end-to-end solution that provides consumers a personalized interior design service with professional execution to create their dream homes.
