Always the topper at school and college, the young Shweta dreamt of becoming an IAS Officer and serving the country. Respecting her wishes Mr. S.A Inamdar, her father who had a small shop of Readymade blouses at Pune, was supposed to join her for mains training at Delhi based institution. But, destiny had something else for her. Her father suddenly passed away. It was a huge shock for the entire family. She had to pull down the curtains on her dreams of pursuing IAS.
She is a middle child, had to take the responsibility of taking care of her family- mother, her elder brother with down syndrome, and youngest sister, on her tender shoulders.
Business:
S.A. Inamdar is into readymade blouses. A company started by the late Mr. S. A. Inamdar is run by Ms. Shweta Inamdar for the past 35 years At just 19, a studious Shweta had no idea of business.
The people around the family started advising but no one came forward and took up the responsibility or at least guided young Shweta. There was a loan of 11 lacs in the name of “M/s S. A. Inamdar and Co”
People around started taking the advantage of Shweta and her immature business knowledge. Since the shop was at a premium location in Pune, many goons and politicians started troubling her. She started facing Police, Courts, goons, Politicians, and whatnot, but she had strong support from her mother and the young sister.
The financial condition was getting worse day by day. The family had to sell their cars. There was no money to buy medicines for the brother, who till then didn’t even realize that his father had passed away. For many days, the family survived on single meals.
After she got her father’s shop operational after going through the court battles, society started talking about her getting married. There was a proposal from Joshi’s family from Thane. The young girl and budding businesswoman was confident enough to tell Joshi’s boy, “I am already married to my business, if I am getting married to you, that would be my second marriage”
The young Shekhar Joshi was quite impressed with her decision-making capabilities and they got married!
Shweta, the new bride, shifted to Thane and started shuttling daily to Pune.
She started the second branch of “S. A. Inamdar” in Thane inn1998 followed by 3rd at Dadar, Mumbai in 2010.
And that’s how the business took the shape
Here are excerpts from the interview
Q: Your journey had been a roller-coaster, How would you define it?
Shweta: My Journey was a Roller coaster ride always. I now believe strongly, that God gives problems to those who have the ability to face it. Earlier I use to feel that I am the soft target for God. He has always given me problems.
So now Problem for me, some difficult situations have become part and parcel... I feel that we all love Lord Ganesha.
But does God love us?
My Lord Ganesha loves me immensely and so he gives me tough papers to solve with solutions in it.
This very belief lately changed my mindset.
Every Problem has Opportunities in it. Problem is married to Solution so they both walk hand in hand
Q: Now, you are on a panel of many business institutions and banks, what do you feel the women are evolving as business persons?
Shweta: As Iam on various Panels of training institutes, banks
I feel nowadays, Women Entrepreneurs are sorted.
They know their focus of attention and can seek it with persistence.
With knowledge at finger tips and advice from Experts, Women Entrepreneurs are scaling up day by day.
I have seen ladies in the profession of driving rickshaws to fly airplanes to serving food on the streets..
It really requires inner strength to stand out and do their jobs without any hesitation or guilt.
We as “women” should support upcoming Entrepreneurs. And I personally salute them.

Q: was there any moment when you felt like- “I want to quit”?
Shweta: Yes, many times in my journey to become Successful, I felt that I donot belong to materialistic life..I am fit for my Academics only.
There was an incidence.
First time at a very tender age, when I went to Court and was made to stand in the witness box. To answer questions, confronted Honorable Judge, with Defendants Advocate asking me questions.. उलटेसुलटेप्रश्नविचारूनहैराणकेले... My legs were literally shaking, throat was jammed... Tears welled up
in my eyes. , Hands were so cold... At that moment I felt like running away from Pune itself...
I was pretty upset when I use to see my friends roaming around with their boyfriends, enjoying their courtship and I was busy slogging with Business, Police Station, goons, and earning bread butter for my family... I really felt that I should run away..
But when I saw the face of my Elder brother, I was taken aback. He will not be served with food if I go, who will take care of him was the only question luring up. And I use to talk to my father. I still feel he is beside me, blessing us ... And guarding us with full power.
Q: What’s the most cherished moment in your entire journey as a businesswoman?
Shweta: When I got my First Award in 2003 July, as Best Woman Entrepreneur from Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce.
When I started new showroom in Thane in 1998 and Dadar in 2010
When my daughter was born in 1999. When I earned Dollars for the first time in 2015.
Q: How do you cope up with the stress?
Shweta: Songs with good music heal my stress...
I cry, then accept my cause of stress and try to find a solution to it. Also, I highlight the solution instead of the problem
Q: What are your future plans?
I already have 4 showrooms. Now, go on increasing the number.
Also, dream of having my showroom on the moon... S. A. Inamdar& Co should be a grand brand placed internationally.
One fine day we will have IPO.
