Afsar Hindustani’s Journey from Rags to Riches

Man is born with a desire to achieve anything and everything to reach the top and stay there, yet a few people are willing to put in the hard work and effort to reach there. Amongst those few people remain individuals whose desires are beyond that, with their selfless thoughts on helping people improve their lives via employment, donations, and other methods.

Afsar Hindustani is an ambitious hard-working entrepreneur from the district of Chikmagaluru in Karnataka. His father has four sisters whom he married off with a meagre salary working as a government official. While pursuing his higher secondary education (P.U.C.), he observed the affluent lifestyle of his roommate Sudhir and aspired to reach a similar level. However, these desires seemed to almost crumble as Afsar was hit with the devastating news that the family could not afford to pay for his further education.

Afsar did not give up though, as he completed a lab technician course from Belur and worked at a few medical shops, eventually obtaining a B.Sc degree. He often travelled everywhere on his bicycle, moving door-to-door in hopes of selling the medicines. He was also applying to several jobs, but most of these proposals were rejected, until he got selected for the role of a marketing executive in Adishwar and began to work in Ujire.

While working there, he received the news of his selection for the government official post his father had applied for on his behalf. But Afsar wanted to do more than that and outright rejected it, and slowly he rose to the position of Chief Manager for Adishwar’s Karnataka branches. While working as an officer in Adishwar, his sister, a teacher, and her colleagues persuaded Afsar to open a new private school, stating that they will support him in his endeavour. Afsar met several higher-ups and officials of reputed institutions, gathered their valuable advice, and applied it perfectly to open up V-Staar International School (initially known as Vidya Bharati) in 2002.

Starting with 20 students in the initial year, today V-Staar International School has over 1000 students gaining knowledge and developing for a bright future. While he had indeed achieved a lot by being a Chief Manager at Adishwar and a school founder, Afsar’s inner voice would say that he could achieve even more by opening his own business. Convinced by it, he initially established a mobile shop in Chikmagaluru, which still operates successfully.

His aunt had suffered a stroke which doctors claimed was uncurable, and that she had little time left to live. The family was in despair until a friend suggested Afsar to visit a local doctor, whose expertise in Ayurveda miraculously cured her stroke, giving her a second chance at life. On witnessing this, Afsar felt the need to bring awareness to more people on Ayurvedic medicine, and visited places like Jaipur and Kerala to research. He brings some products to his family and friends, who state that it has improved their health and lifestyle overall.

Inspired by this and the idea of providing more employment, he pitches the ideal of providing liquid-based products to around 100 people in a meeting, out of whom only ten people stood with him. With their support, Afsar established V-Staar Lifestyle Pvt.Ltd. in 2019, which focuses on a person’s health care, personal care, beauty care, and oral care. As of today, they have distributors all over India with employees counting upto more than a lakh. They even export to customers from Dubai, Canada, and America. Franchisees can open V-Staar branches with a minimal investment of 1-5 lakh rupees and earn 30k-1 lakh rupees per month.

Afsar Hindustani aspires to expand his market all over India by opening a shop in each district, ensuring the maximum number of people benefit from the miracles of Ayurveda. He also aspires to provide employment to over 5 lakh people by the year 2026.
