Dream Sports, the parent organization of Dream11, announced on Wednesday that it had raised $840 million (about Rs 6,252.2 crores) in capital from Falcon Edge, DST Global, D1 Capital, Redbird Capital, and Tiger Global, for a valuation of $ 8 billion. Existing investors such as TPG and Footpath Ventures also participated in the round, making it one of the biggest investments in the sports tech sector internationally, according to a release.

Dream Sports' portfolio includes companies including Dream Capital, FanCode, Dream11, DreamSetGo, Dream Game Studios, and DreamPay. Dream Sports is headquartered in Mumbai and employs close to 1,000 people. It was originally created by Harsh Jain and Bhavit Sheth. Dream Sports is establishing a sports ecosystem that incorporates sports content, commerce, experiences, fan interaction (including sports gaming and e-sports), Web 3.0 solutions, fantasy sports, and fitness tech, with a user base of 140 million Indian sports lovers. Dream Sports announced a $250 million corpus earlier this year through its CVC and M&A subsidiary, Dream Capital.

Fittr, SoStronk, KheloMore, and Elevar are among the ten startups in Dream Capital's initial portfolio, which is primarily focused on themed early-stage investments in India. According to the statement, Dream Capital is currently extending its sports, fan interaction, and fitness portfolio in India and abroad.

Their purpose and mission are to establish a virtuous cycle of investment, innovation, and wealth creation for all stakeholders in the sports ecosystem, from fans to athletes, teams, and leagues, through entrepreneur-led initiatives. Their investors have extensive expertise establishing sports ecosystems around the world, and we are lucky to have their help in 'Making Sports Better' for India's 1 billion sports enthusiasts.
