Another Indian CEO in the record, Twitter Appoints Parag Agrawal as the new CEO

The Indian Origin Parag Agrawal (37) an IIT Bombay Graduate becomes the new CEO of Twitter. With this title, he joins the list of Indian-origin Silicon Valley CEOs such as Sathya Nadella of Microsoft and Sundar Pichai of Alphabet & Alphabet. He becomes the youngest CEO of Fortune 500 companies. Parag Agrawal replaced Jack Dorsey who was former CEO of Twitter and Square. Dorsey will hold the position of Board member until his term expires in 2022.

Who is Parag Agrawal?

Parag Agrawal did his schooling at Atomic Energy Central School. He completed his graduation in Computer Science Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. Then he moved to the U.S to complete his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University.

After completion of his Doctorate, he did a research internship at AT %T, Microsoft, and Yahoo. In 2011 Parag joined Twitter as an Ads Engineer and later with the position of “Distinguished Software Engineer” in Twitter. In 2017 Twitter appointed Parag as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Parag has been on Twitter for more than a decade. He was responsible for the company’s Technical strategy, seeing after machine learning and Artificial Intelligence of the company. Parag had led different strategies in the growth of Twitter, as he made the relevance of Timeline system for Ads and users. This generated more users for the company.

Parag was given the work to find a new leader for “Bluesky”, which allows social networks to carry out restrictions against speech and abuse.

Twitter is planning to have around a 315million paid subscribers daily at the end of 2023. Parag will execute this task for generating more revenue to Twitter. He has been the key element in the development and growth of Twitter.
