Chittaranjan Bolar founded the AthmaShakthi Multipurpose Cooperative Society (AMCS) in the year 2011. Chittaranjan Bolar was born into a poor family on June 14, 1966, in Bolara, Mulihitlu, and he faced numerous challenges throughout his life. Despite the hardships, Chittaranjan was determined to overcome them and make a difference.

Chittaranjan's journey began with his education. He attended a Government School in Bolar for his primary education and later Cascia High School for his high school education. During high school, he worked tirelessly during holidays to support his education financially. Undeterred by the obstacles, he completed Pre-University at a Government College in Mangalore. He later obtained his bachelor's degree from Besant Evening College.

While pursuing his graduation, Chittaranjan worked as a sales representative for a private firm. After completing his degree, he worked as a sales representative for United India Foods in Madurai. Over the next 27 years, he worked for several Indian and multinational companies, showcasing his dedication and perseverance.

Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to make a positive impact, Chittaranjan established the Athmashakthi Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society in Mangalore. As the Founder President, he displayed exceptional dynamism and leadership.

AthmaShakthi Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. (AMCS) was founded in Dakshina Kannada District, inspired by the ideals of Sri Narayan Guru, a social reformer. The society aims to reach out to the deprived sections of society. Over the years, AMCS has published educational magazines, conducted health camps, and provided financial aid to the needy and students.

AMCS identified the importance of setting up a member-driven cooperative. In 2012, the cooperative was formed with eleven members who mobilized others and raised the required share capital within three months.

AMCS follows the 10 Ps focusing on Purpose, Principles, Products, Practices, and Programmes. Its purpose is to fulfil social responsibility while ensuring organizational sustainability.

The cooperative provides economic products such as deposits and loan schemes tailored to the needs of its members. It also offers social products in the fields of health and education. The above 5 Ps have supported the other 5 Ps: People, Performance, Profits, Positioning, and Potential.

The cooperative promotes a culture of collaboration and emphasizes reaching the unreached to fulfil their aspirations. It follows practices that prioritize member clients, functional excellence, and cooperative integrity. AMCS also organizes various social programs such as health check-up camps, staff training, health insurance, and women empowerment initiatives.

AMCS has achieved remarkable growth in a short period. It has built business linkages with other banks, cooperatives, and insurance companies to offer a wide range of services to its members and customers. The cooperative has also received recognition and awards for its performance in e-stamping services, insurance services, and overall excellence.

In terms of social activities, AMCS focuses on education and health. It provides scholarships to underprivileged students, especially girls, to access quality education and pursue their dreams. The cooperative also conducts free career guidance and training programs to expose underprivileged youth to various career opportunities.

AMCS offers Higher Diploma in Cooperative Management (HDCM) correspondence courses for cooperative employees aspiring for career growth, benefiting over 750 individuals. Chittaranjan played a significant role in educational initiatives. He also conducted free motivational camps and coaching for poor students preparing for IAS/KAS exams.

Chittaranjan's dedication extends beyond the realm of cooperative societies. Through AMCS, he has organised 50+ health camps, providing medical services to those in need. Through the cooperative society and other organizations, he facilitated cataract surgeries, distributed free medications and spectacles, and supported economically disadvantaged students in pursuing their education. He champions women's empowerment, with 95% of the cooperative society's staff being women.

AMCS's economic and social initiatives have resulted in its growth and increased profits. The cooperative has positioned itself as a reputable and reliable organization in the cooperative landscape. With its indomitable spirit and commitment to serving the community, AMCS continues to harness its full potential and work towards fulfilling its objectives.

All this wouldn't have been possible without Chittaranjan Bolar's effort and leadership. Under his guidance, the cooperative society expanded rapidly, opening 30 branches in 10 years. This remarkable achievement created employment opportunities for over 100 individuals, while the society achieved a turnover of Rs. 2000 crore—an extraordinary feat in the cooperative sector.

Chittaranjan's commitment to social work away from AMCS was equally commendable. He is a trustee of the Brahmashree Narayanaguru Swami Publishers and Charitable Trust, Vice President of the Brahmashree Narayanaguru Seva Trust, and District President of Sahakara Bharathi Mangalore City, among others. As a director of the Federation of Karnataka Credit Cooperative Societies and the Dakshina Kannada District Cooperative Union, he has contributed significantly to the cooperative movement.

Recognizing his outstanding contributions, Chittaranjan received numerous accolades and awards throughout his career. From the prestigious Sahakara Rathna Award to the Bharath Rathna A. P. J. Abdul Kalam National Award, his efforts recognised at the state and national levels. The cooperative society he led also received several awards for its exceptional performance and service to the community.

Chittaranjan's contributions to society were truly remarkable, and he continued to work tirelessly to uplift and empower those around him. His story was an inspiration to many, and his name became synonymous with dedication, hard work, and social service.
