For Deepak Sonnappa, the ambition to build a company took shape through years spent learning the construction business from within. Before establishing Abhivruddhi Constructions in 2017, Deepak worked across construction companies, gained experience on institutional projects and explored consultancy. Each stage brought him closer to a decision that would define his career: to take ownership of his work and establish an enterprise of his own.

Today, Abhivruddhi Constructions operates from Sahakarnagar in Bengaluru, with more than 140 completed projects across schools, hospitals, apartments, paying guest accommodations and other building categories. Behind that portfolio is a five-member company and a founder who identifies transparency as the basis of client trust. Deepak’s journey offers a grounded account of entrepreneurship, built through professional experience, an encouraging response to independent work and the willingness to change direction.

Deepak entered the industry in 2010, when a campus interview led to his selection by Nagarjuna Construction Company. The opportunity took the young engineer to Hyderabad for training, marking the beginning of a career that would eventually lead him into business ownership. On returning to Bengaluru, Deepak was assigned to the construction of the Vijayanagar TTMC depot as a junior engineer.

The assignment introduced Deepak to construction at an early and formative stage of his career. Working on a public infrastructure project placed him within an environment where engineering plans, site activity and the efforts of multiple teams had to come together. Over four years with Nagarjuna Construction Company, Deepak developed the professional experience that would form the starting point for his subsequent roles.

An opportunity with Viraj Constructions, a Pune-based company, followed. Deepak spent a year there before joining Hayagreeva Infratech Private Limited. During another year of employment, his work included a government RTO office construction project. These successive assignments widened Deepak’s exposure to different organisations and ways of working, while keeping construction at the centre of his professional development.

By then, Deepak wanted greater independence. Continuing to work for other organisations no longer matched the direction he wanted to pursue. The next step was consultancy, providing drawings and floor plans directly to clients. This allowed Deepak to begin working on his own terms through services grounded in his existing experience.

The consultancy received good leads and appreciation, encouraging Deepak to consider a broader business opportunity. Along with a friend, Deepak started Innovative Group of Companies. The partnership continued for a year before the two parted ways. For Deepak, the experience became an intermediate chapter in the move from employment to entrepreneurship.
In 2017, Deepak established Abhivruddhi Constructions. The new company gave his independent ambitions a clear identity and a platform through which to undertake construction projects. From its Sahakarnagar office, Abhivruddhi has since developed a portfolio that spans several building types, reflecting the range of requirements brought to the company.

Schools, hospitals, apartments and paying guest accommodation serve very different needs. Their inclusion in Abhivruddhi’s completed work gives substance to the company’s growth story. The figure of more than 140 completed projects provides a tangible measure of the business Deepak has developed since its founding, beyond the ambition that first prompted him to work independently.
For Deepak, however, construction remains a business shaped by people. Asked about the toughest part of the job, the Abhivruddhi founder points to managing labour. The answer brings attention to the daily coordination behind a completed building. Plans and technical decisions are essential, but executing a project also requires organising the people whose work carries it forward.

Deepak is equally clear about what strengthens relationships with clients: transparency. Construction involves expectations, commitments and decisions that unfold over time. In that setting, openness becomes an important part of the working relationship. Deepak places it at the centre of his approach to earning trust, offering a straightforward explanation of the principle behind his dealings with clients.

Abhivruddhi Constructions currently has five members. Its compact organisational size is a distinct detail within the company’s profile, alongside the breadth of its completed portfolio. Together, these facts describe the present business: an enterprise with a substantial body of work, led by a founder whose career began as a junior engineer.
Beyond work, Deepak’s family includes his wife, Aruna, a homemaker, and their daughter and son. Alongside his identity as an entrepreneur, Deepak is a husband and father. His personal philosophy is similarly uncomplicated: remain yourself, do your best and allow time to bring achievement.

That belief gives continuity to Deepak Sonnappa’s business journey. The move from campus recruitment to employment, consultancy, partnership and company ownership happened through successive steps. At Abhivruddhi Constructions, those steps have resulted in an enterprise with more than 140 completed projects. Deepak’s next chapter rests on the same conviction that brought him this far: commit to the work, maintain trust and give progress time.
