From the quiet lanes of Bhadravati to the buzzing construction sites and creative design studios of Bengaluru, Ranjith T R’s journey has been one of vision, grit, and evolution. What started as a freelance dream during his engineering days has today grown into a multi-disciplinary firm, R Dimension, a company reshaping the way residential and commercial spaces are imagined and built—with sustainability and technology at its core.
Ranjith's foundation is deeply rooted in the small-town values he grew up with. Schooled at Poornaprajna in Bhadravati and having pursued his PU at Sri Aurobindo College in Shivamogga, Ranjith found his calling in Civil Engineering at Dayananda Sagar College, Bengaluru. But while the classroom taught him the science of structures, it was the college corridors and student clubs that introduced him to the world of design.
During his engineering years, Ranjith took to graphic design with passion. He became the lead designer and editor for The Gateway, a civil engineering newsletter, which not only refined his visual aesthetic but gave him a solid grip on storytelling through design. This parallel skill set of 3d Building Designeventually laid the groundwork for what would become R Dimension.
2013 marked his move to Bengaluru—initially for education, but soon, the city became home. Between coursework and internships, Ranjith began freelancing, designing for clients and exploring design software that extended far beyond blueprints. By 2015, even before graduation, he had registered R Dimension—a name that reflected his aspiration to explore multiple dimensions of design.
His early professional experience includes stints as a quantity surveyor with Mallikarjuna Constructions and as a Supervisor with the ISRO Construction Division under contract basis. These roles gave him the opportunity to understand the technical, financial, and structural layers of the industry—experience that later empowered him to run his own projects with depth and clarity.
By 2019, Ranjith took the leap into full-time entrepreneurship, turning R Dimension into a full-fledged firm with a team of over 15 employees and consultants. Today, the company’s portfolio spans across architecture, interior design, and construction. With more than 100 successful projects to their name, the team thrives on variety—handling everything from compact modern homes to luxurious commercial interiors.
One of their landmark projects—a 60x80 residential residence in Bellary—stands out for its deeply rooted sustainable approach. Located in a region known for its harsh, dry heat, this home was envisioned not just as a place of comfort but as a blueprint for climate-conscious living. R Dimension integrated passive cooling strategies right from the design stage: a bio-shading system using climbers and creepers was thoughtfully used along the West side to encourage natural cooling and reduce dependency on artificial air-conditioning. The roof, layered with traditional Mangalore clay tiles over RCC, offered natural insulation, effectively shielding the interiors from the blazing sun.
At the heart of the house lies a central courtyard—an age-old architectural feature—revived here to promote cross-ventilation and daylight penetration. This courtyard not only enhances the spatial quality but also allows hot air to escape, thereby regulating indoor temperatures.
Terracotta cladding across the external façade minimizes heat absorption while adding an earthy visual warmth. Additionally, R Dimension prioritized local materials and labour, reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation. Rainwater harvesting pits were integrated into the site planning, and low-flow plumbing fixtures were installed to conserve water. Solar panels were provisioned for future installation, further reinforcing the home’s eco-conscious intent.
This project remains a testament to R Dimension’s evolving ethos—where design meets regional wisdom, and aesthetics are harmonized with environmental responsibility.
Ranjith firmly believes that architecture and design are moving toward an immersive, tech-enabled future. “Earlier architects used to spend days building miniature physical models. Now, our clients walk through their future homes in 3D,” he says.
R Dimension is steadily shifting its design process toward virtual reality. Within the next few years, Ranjith envisions a completely VR-integrated studio where clients can experience spatial flow, materiality, lighting, and scale in real time. This transition not only enhances client engagement but also significantly reduces turnaround time in the design approval process.
The creative force behind R Dimension is its team—diverse in background, experience, and specializations. Ranjith has built a space where architects, civil engineers, and interior designers work hand-in-hand, each bringing their unique flair to the table. From Scandinavian minimalism to maximalist luxury, the team adapts its design language to align with the client’s vision, ensuring each project is a personalized experience rather than a template offering.
What sets them apart is this design fluidity—no style is off-limits. “Our goal is to translate ideas into livable, lovable spaces,” Ranjith adds. Whether it’s a contemporary family home, a corporate office space, or a boutique retail outlet, R Dimension thrives on crafting stories through materials, textures, and spaces.
Behind this entrepreneurial story is a humble, grounded man. Ranjith comes from a family that values simplicity and hard work. His father runs a provision store in Bhadravati, his mother is a homemaker, and his younger brother is currently pursuing Chartered Accountancy. His wife, who works as an account executive in a CA firm, is one of his strongest support systems. “They’ve always stood by me, even when design work didn’t mean stable income,” he reflects.
With Bangalore as its base and a growing team backing his vision, Ranjith sees R Dimension evolving into a creative ecosystem where architecture, technology, and sustainability converge. They plan to expand into new markets, adopt greener materials, and create virtual environments that are both aesthetic and intelligent.
For Ranjith T R, R Dimension is more than just a business—it’s a philosophy that design must evolve with time, without forgetting its responsibility to people and the planet. His story is not only one of design but also of discipline, resilience, and quiet ambition—qualities that continue to shape every brick and byte his firm puts into place.
