Vijendra Bathija founded Sunshyne International in 2003. Originally, Vijendra and his family supplied Indian HP and Bharat gas. However, after graduation, Vijendra started Sunshyne International, a business that provided interior decor and design services for people who wanted modern kitchens and equipment.

Bathija observed that specific projects had better results and finishes, prompting him to explore the reasons. This led him to study Vastu, an ancient Indian science and biophilic design principles.

Incorporating Vastu principles into his projects, Bathija found that harmony with nature created a pleasant atmosphere. He says that this approach, known as Biophilic Design in the Western world, gained recognition and was even appreciated by a Hollywood producer. Bathija stresses that Vastu is not a myth but a tradition rooted in Indian science.

Sunshyne International has diversified its business, expanding into retail, hotels, hospitals, and construction, including a large pharmaceutical warehouse in South India. The company has completed numerous projects in various sectors, always striving to follow Vastu principles to create harmonious spaces.

Vijendra Bathija completed his schooling at NPS Rajajinagar and graduated from Mahaveer Jain College with a degree in BCom. He simultaneously pursued an interior designing course.

In 2003, Vijendra Bathija established Sunshyne International with the support of his extended family in Mumbai. They initially focused on interior decor and simultaneously ventured into the retail sector. Over time, they expanded their workforce to around 800 members. They started promoting their skilled labor and heads as contractors.

The success of Sunshyne International is attributed to the dedication of its team. Some of their staff have been with them for over 14 years, demonstrating their commitment through thick and thin.

Despite challenges such as the 2008 recession and the COVID-19 pandemic, Bathija remained committed to his workforce. Rather than laying off employees like many others, he ensured their well-being and supported those in need.

When many contractors abandoned their workers, leaving them without any support or income. Sunshyne International ensured that their laborers and those in the surrounding areas received food and supplies at their doorsteps, supporting them throughout.

 

The company guaranteed complete salaries for their employees without any deductions or reductions. Sunshyne International maintained its workforce during and after the pandemic, even hiring new employees to ensure everyone had a happy life.

Sunshyne International's workforce exhibited remarkable dedication during the lockdowns. They assured that they would complete ongoing projects before returning to their hometowns, even when other contractors had disappeared. This level of commitment showcased the strength of their team and the importance they placed on maintaining their company's goodwill.

Looking ahead, Bathija expresses optimism that things are returning to normal and improving beyond the pre-pandemic state. Sunshyne International strives for success and aims to provide excellent services in interior design and construction.

In 2023, Sunshyne International expanded its operations by venturing into co-working spaces. This decision was driven by the fact that there is a demand for them, reflecting their forward-thinking approach to business.

They initiated the concept of coworking spaces like InDesygn and InURoffice, to address the challenges individuals faced in setting up their own offices. Rising costs and the need for a dedicated workspace led Sunshyne International to create affordable and flexible options. Their vision was to enable individuals to work with pride and contribute to the progress of India.

The goal is to establish Indian standards as the benchmark for quality, surpassing those of developed countries. They aspire for the world to associate excellence with Indian products and companies. Through InDesign, Vijendra aims to showcase international standards and highlight our commitment to raising the bar in the industry.

Being a part of the Sindhi community, Vijendra acknowledges the challenges his community faced during the partition, leaving behind ancestral properties and starting anew in tents and camps provided by the Indian government. Despite the difficulties, he feels fortunate to belong to this resilient community.

Bathija acknowledges the crucial support of his family, particularly his mother, who believed in him and managed various aspects of the business. His parents' hard work and dedication to establish themselves in Bangalore is an inspiration.

The values instilled by his mother have played a significant role in shaping the company's culture. They believe in treating everyone equally, regardless of their position, and underline the importance of respect.

Outside of his family, Bathija finds inspiration in the simplicity and philanthropy of Ratan Tata, a billionaire who dedicates his wealth to charitable causes. Bathija aspires to reach a point where he can set a financial limit for himself and channel any excess wealth for charity.

Following Tata's example, Bathija aims to make a significant difference through his philanthropic efforts. Bathija's vision extends beyond personal success to include the betterment of society, demonstrating his commitment to using his resources for the greater good.
