As the Indian cinema industry experiences a resurgence after a three-year hiatus, Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film, Jawan, directed by Atlee, is generating immense excitement. The film is poised to usher in a new era in box office records, cementing Shah Rukh Khan's status as a colossal brand. To date, an impressive 7.5 lakh tickets have already been sold through the ticket aggregator, BookMyShow.

This cinematic revival, ignited by Shah Rukh Khan, has set the stage for unprecedented advance ticket sales for Jawan. The buzz surrounding the film has reached a fever pitch, prompting film trade analyst Taran Adarsh to comment, "The overall scenario is very positive now. People are going back to the cinemas. Those who felt Hindi cinema was dead and no one wanted to watch it, I think it has completely changed the whole scenario in the last couple of months. It's a great period to be in."

Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, appears to be a thrilling vigilante drama where SRK's character, along with a formidable group of women, fights for the nation's honour. The film also features acclaimed South Indian stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, with a special appearance by Deepika Padukone.

Film producer and trade expert Girish Johar is optimistic about Jawan's potential to shatter records, confidently stating that the film is poised to cross the Rs 100 crore mark on its opening day (September 7). Johar remarked, "The first-day expectations are skyrocketing high. I am seeing the Rs 100 cr mark easily being crossed. I am expecting a start of around $4-5 million overseas alone, which is around Rs 40 crore and a minimum of Rs 60 crore in India." He also confirmed that Jawan is set to release in over 4.5k screens, including morning shows.

Notably, national multiplexes have already sold over 3 lakh tickets for Jawan. Film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan shared, "SOLD 7 lac tickets & CROSSES ₹20 cr gross mark across all theatres in India. National Multiplexes alone sell 3 lac plus tickets for the opening day." He further broke down the sales figures for key multiplex chains.

The film has generated Rs 20.06 crore from advance ticket sales in various cities, creating significant anticipation for its release. Taran Adarsh predicts that Jawan's opening day collection will not be less than Rs 65-70 crore, setting a new benchmark in the industry.

Shah Rukh Khan is venturing into uncharted territory by targeting the southern Indian audience, a demographic he has never catered to before. Girish Johar believes that the actor, currently in the prime of his career, is well-positioned to win the hearts of hardcore South Indian film enthusiasts.

Jawan has garnered significant attention in states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, with Tamil Nadu showing exceptional interest due to director Atlee's track record of hits with Vijay. Rajasekar, a film journalist and cinema tracker, noted, "Even in two-tier districts like Tirunelveli, the film has gotten a decent opening… this is based on the booking. Usually, for Hindi films, the booking will be good only in areas like Chennai, Chengalpattu, and Coimbatore. But for Jawan, there's a good buzz in other places as well." The film's pre-release event, broadcast on Sun TV, further bolstered its appeal in Tamil Nadu.

Ramesh Bala estimates an opening day collection of Rs 5-7 crore for Jawan in Tamil Nadu, emphasizing that the film's primarily Tamil content, aside from SRK, will be a game-changer. He predicts that Jawan will surpass previous records set by Tamil-dubbed Hindi movies like Krish, Padmavat, and Dangal.

Interestingly, the resurgence of single-screen cinemas, which had been shuttered during the pandemic, is evident as they reopen, thanks to the buzz surrounding Jawan. The film is also expected to benefit from a three-day holiday in the national capital due to the G20 summit.

Ticket aggregator BookMyShow has reported maximum interest in the Hindi version of the film, with single-screen cinemas witnessing a strong response. Ashish Saksena, COO - Cinemas, BookMyShow, anticipates a diverse audience flocking to theatres for an exciting cinematic experience.

Jawan is poised to rewrite box office history, catapulting Shah Rukh Khan to even greater heights as a cinematic icon, according to Taran Adarsh.
