Story of SIVENARA Engineers: From a 10x10 office space to Pan India Presence

Sivenara Engineers are one of the leading suppliers and dealers of world-class products to provide engineering solutions to their clients and partners. Sivenara has a diverse clientele and they belong to Automotive, Wind Energy, Locomotive, Shipyard, Construction, Aerospace, and more. Few of the products that they deal with have to do with Premium Assembly Tools, Pneumatic Tools,  Precision Deburring & Robotic Tools, Industrial Hose’, Modular Linear Automation, Aerospace Tools; They also provide service and solutions like Metal Removing, CNC Tools storage, Mechanical Transmission, Painting Dept Solution and so on.

Sivenara Engineers was founded by SV Narayan in the year 1996 and ever since then, the company has managed to create a beautiful work ecosystem both inside and outside of the office. We asked SV Narayan about the interesting company name for which he says “SI-VE-NARA, I thought of this name because I wanted a company name which is unique and also which is personal to me, so SI in Sivenara stands for Singapura, Ve in it stands for Venugoplachar, my father’s name and Nara are the first four letters of my name, Narayan. I believe that having my father’s name before mine has truly been a blessing to me” 

We asked Narayan about his early days he says “I was born in Mysore into a humble middle-class family, my schooling was in Kunigal and after that, I did my Diploma in Mechanical Engineering”. After moving to Bangalore in the year 1983, Narayan worked in a few reputed companies and his stints didn’t last more than two years for which he laughs and continues to answer “I always loved the learning aspect a job experience provides, so when I hit a dead-end and there was nothing more to learn in the process, I would lose interest and there were times I had my resignation letter ready, just in case I decided to quit that very day. Looking back at those days I know that my behavior was a little ‘Vagabond’ kind but It has helped me get to where I am. When I was working in companies, I didn’t quite appreciate it when my Boss or the Manager asked me to do something and immediately asked me how I’d do it, because, personally, I don’t understand why one has to explain how one does an impossible task, what matters is if he or she manages to reach the target or the goal at that given time”

 

 We then asked him about the people that inspired him, without any hesitation he said “I always admired CR. Gopinath was the Manager in the company that I worked at which was a part of Rajgadia Group of Companies. Gopinath Sir was an inspiration to me, He taught us the importance of Flat Hierarchy, Emotional Intelligence, Values and Ethics of doing business and doing it the right way, I still do remember to implement them.”

 

We asked him about his fondest memories when he started his company, he goes on to say “I started with a 10*10 office space, I was the Typist, the Accountant and the Owner, back then there were Pagers and I remember my friend called Joshi, he was working in Max Pager Company, he came forward and paid the money upfront and asked me to pay him in installments, this way he helped me acquire my first pager and that did help me scale up in my business. During my working years in other companies, I never did take any commissions, I believed that was unnecessary, and whatever extra transaction I did was without any financial expectations and I did it to help the dealers or the traders and the same people helped me when I was starting my business, it’s amazing to see good things coming back to us.”

 

Sivenara boasts of having a great work culture and employee retention, wherein most of the employees are working since 2010 and every one of them is covered for medical and accident insurance. Sivenara has grown from just one Employee to now to a team of more than 20 and their presence is not just limited to Bangalore but is their offices and employees are present all over India.
