SURENDRA SHETTY FOUNDER OF SAHANA SAMOOHA, MULTIFACETED BUSINESSMAN

Born in a middle-class family in Karkala to Mr. Ramesh Shetty, Mr. Suendra Shetty through his hard work and built a small empire in Kundapura which has touched many lives and helped many people in the district. Mr. Surendra Shetty's father was an uneducated person and had a cycle shop and was struggling to raise his family of 4 children. He was helped by a local Muslim family who helped him to secure a job in Dubai and so his father went to Dubai seeking livelihood and educating his children.

Mr. Surendra Shetty did his primary education in a government school and after graduating from B.com he joined KPTCL as an accountant, as he wanted to do something on his own he started a hotel near NITTE College but it failed after a few months. Being interested and having leadership traits from college days he joined politics and contested in Municipal elections but lost in the elections, he felt highly disappointed and went to Uma maheshwara temple to pray to god. His father called him to Dubai where his elder brother was also working and he got employed in the hotel industry and later worked for B R Shetty company.

In the year 2005, he married, and in the year 2008 due to personal reasons they had to return to India. After coming to India he settled in Kundapura where he did not know many people, one of his friends Mr. Sudhir Kumar Shetty encouraged him to do realty business and so built a complex of 6 floors building which was highly appreciated and so his journey as Builder and developer began, In the year 2015 he built Sahana Convention Centre which was a huge success as many people appreciated his efforts and so Sahana group of companies came into existence. Later he started Sahana Hotels and orchids as a Family Restaurant.

Mr. Surendra Shetty always had a talent of learning new things immediately and he is always keen on learning new things this led him to start a new saloon in the name of Sahana Saloon, the first of its kind in Kundapura. He built Sahana Aquatic center and sports complex which had Badminton, fitness, cricket academy, and recreation club. This was inaugurated by His Holiness Pejawara sreegalu.

I Surendra Shetty has always been keen on learning about the wants of people and has successfully given it to the people. This has been highly appreciated by the people of Kundapura who have stood by him in his hour of need. He has been awarded Indian Icon medal and Pajawara sreegala medal for his service.

Being a businessman he does not want to restrict himself to Kundapura and wants to expand to other places as well. He has 250 people working for his group of companies. He has also served as managing trustee for Karkala Uma maheshwara temple and has earned the nickname of Annu in Karkala Bunt Sangha.

He wants to take part in many developmental works in all streams of society and his family is proud of his achievements. Though he works along with leaders like Veerappa Moily and Kota Srinivasa Poojary he doesn’t want to be restricted to any one party and wants to work for the uplift the people around him irrespective of any political party. He is thankful to his wife Mrs. Sahana in whose name he has started his companies and is thankful to all the people who have helped him in achieving this.
