To raise awareness about e-waste, Xiaomi India has teamed up with Saahas Zero Waste

Xiaomi India today announced a cooperation with Saahas Zero Waste, a waste management organization, to promote an e-waste awareness campaign organized by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB).KSPCB, in collaboration with Saahas, Xiaomi, and other businesses, wants to raise awareness across Karnataka's 31 districts, affecting nearly five million people. The focus at Xiaomi India is not only on responsible recycling but also on raising awareness. The KSPCB's endeavor to raise awareness about e-waste is a positive step toward a more sustainable and future-ready tomorrow. They are honored and grateful to be a part of Karnataka's e-waste initiative.             



He went on to say that this collaboration will allow the company to exceed its limits and contribute to a more sustainable future.KSPCB also intends to instill a sense of responsibility among consumers about repair, refurbishment, donation, and recycling as part of this campaign. According to a statement made by Xiaomi, the focus will be on collecting around 100 tonnes of e-waste over the next month. The program will also include creating appropriate educational content, overseeing the collecting of all e-waste, and directing it to authorized recyclers for recycling.


India created 3.2 million tonnes of e-waste in 2019, according to the MEITY's annual report 2020-21, of which only 10% was legally collected and recycled. The momentum behind appropriate e-waste collection has also grown over time, according to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, of which it is a component.
